It’s getting hot in here, know what that means? It’s time to open a bottle of Gavi di Gavi wine from Italy!

So what is Gavi di Gavi white wine and why should you definitely know this easy sipper?

Well, I’m specifically talking to you Sauvignon Blanc mainliner, yes you in the back. Gavi wine can be a great alternative type of white wine instead of your usual Sauv Blanc.

Gavi di Gavi or just Gavi hails from the Piedmont DOCG region of Italy. It’s made from the indigneous Cortese grape which dates back to the 1600’s. And bonus, Gavi wine is one of the top ranking Italian white wines.

I discovered it when I wanted something that was dry and refreshing, but I didn’t exactly want a Sauvignon Blanc or a Pinot Gris.

Well La Chiara Gavi DOCG del Comune di Gavi wine fit the bill. And it will make you feel like a Queen (or King) while sipping it.

This Gavi is made by the Bergaglio family for over three generations in their vineyard on the hills of the Ligurian Preappennino mountain chain. It was originally founded by Ferdinando Bergaglio, born in 1912 in a family of farmers, and his son Roberto.

Gavi DOCG del Comune di Gavi wine is a vibrant straw color with 14k carat gold shimmer. It’s fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged for about 2-4 months.

I love the initial hit of white flowers on the nose, it’s an aromatic Italian white wine that’s bold and juicy. There are notes of golden pears, fresh apricot, lemon, and white grapefruit.

And then there’s the slight savory taste of flint and copper (don’t worry it all blends together wonderfully).

This Gavi wine is as natural as it can get…no chemicals are used, they have strict pruning standards, and all grapes are picked by hand. How’s that for “artisanal wine making,” Sierra?

Gavi goes great with any shellfish, white meat, grilled fish, and light pasta dishes.

In fact, Gavi wine plays excellently with vegetables. So, if you’ve got a vegan in the house, this could become their new favorite.

I’m going to share with you two vegetable dishes that pair excellently with La Chiara Gavi DOCG del Comune di Gavi wine.

Serve Gavi chilled and buy several bottles. It’s Wine & Drama approved.
